The Italian Kitchen

The holiday season is all about the classics. Traditional meals, time-honored recipes and family traditions passed down through the generations. So why not add another classic to the mix? It’s easy with olives, cheese and wine!

Olives naturally complement wine and cheese. All three have bold, unique tastes that are enhanced when they’re savored back to back or at the same time. There’s no shortage of variety when it comes to all three. Where to start? Don’t worry – it’s very easy to select a delicious combination! The best way to serve this terrific trio is mixing a simple olive medley of 4-5 different types of green and black olives. Serve them raw, or marinade in olive oil and Italian herbs overnight in the refrigerator.

From there, picking the wines and cheeses is easy – keep it Italian! Il Villaggio Cheeses are a can’t-miss flavor fest alongside olives and cheese. Serve the olives and cheese on toothpicks. The fun, portable party snacks are a great way to get your foodie friends talking – especially when a couple of difference wines are on hand!

Mozzarella has a famously delicate flavor makes it ideal for lighter wines. Serve some Sauvignon Blanc if you’re featuring this classic.
